Ravenwing Army List

A week or so ago I decided to get back into 40K.  I’ve always loved the background and the figures and whilst many people bemoan the rules just as many enjoy them so I thought why not?  Well there’s the “I don’t know what to buy so I don’t waste my money” argument for one thing and that dear reader is where you come in…

ravenwing_co_2I have an inkling on the force I would like to run but I’m just starting out really so I’m unsure if the choices I’m making are the right ones.  I know I want to field 3 squads of 5 Ravenwing Bikes with 2 Grav guns each.  I’m pretty sure I also want some Black Knights.  That gives me a pretty decent and highly mobile plus tough core that are really a bit good against MEQ and TEQ.

That leaves me with no HQ though I will have a couple of bikes to convert up into characters I’m just unsure what’s best.  I’ve seen lists with two librarians and others with chaplains and others with Sammael leading the force?  I’ve plumped for an Interrogator and a Librarian…

ravenwing-biker1I’m fairly certain that a trio of attack bikes with Multi-Meltas and then a Ravenwing Support Squadron starts to round out the force fairly well but I still have somewhere in the region of 500 points to spend.  Perhaps more Ravenwing bikes are the way forwards?  Or the detachment of flyers?  Basically there are tons of possibilities here and to my untrained eye the options are seemingly pretty good.  Maybe add the Dark Talon and start with the speeders on the field?  Is that a bit predictable though?

I’d really appreciate some feedback  on the list so far and what you think I should go with next: (I’ve written it up below for convenience).

Ravenwing Strike Force
Interrogator Chaplain on Bike w/Mace of Redemption
Librarian on Bike w/Mastery 2

5 Ravenwing Bikers 2 Grav Guns
5 Ravenwing Bikers 2 Grav Guns
5 Ravenwing Bikers 2 Grav Guns
3 Black Knights 1 power weapon

Attack Bike w/Multi-Melta
Attack Bike w/Multi-Melta
Attack Bike w/Multi-Melta

Ravenwing Support Squadron
3 x Land Speeder w/Typhoon
1 x Darkshroud

That comes in at 1345 and I’m fairly sure it works but I’d rather know now if I’m starting down a bad path!  Many thanks in advance! -Mark

And to whomever painted the Biker above I salute you!  He looks incredible!
