From talented clay-prodder Philip Hynes at Bears Head, comes a new, bitesize Kickstarter. As a small diversion in the run up to a larger fantasy-themed project, two traditionally sculpted miniatures are up for grabs. All for just the princely sum of eight of your British pounds. As it turns out, the figures themselves definitely fit the “Weird Science” title!
The first miniature, which I shall take to be the weird, is a spiffy likeness of the Cthulthu-meister himself, H.P. Lovecraft. Suitable as a gaming piece for eldritch horror or pulp, or simply a nice piece to paint and sit on the shelf. Mr. Hynes has clearly worked up a new and improved figure. Despite being in a relatively static pose, I think this just oozes character. Furthermore, for those of you who don’t approve of the puppy (shame on you), there’s a stretch goal for a variant with cane. For those who do approve of the puppies (hooray), there’s also a stretch goal for a pack of four!
Up second is the science, with a rendering of that most famous of quantum theorists, Albert Einstein. Instantly recognisable, with a touch of the caricature, this figure would be well-suited as an objective in pulp or weird war games. Given their theories though it would be with some humorous irony to see them turn up in time travel games. One such game could feature another famous Doctor, perhaps?
I might not have any current need for such figures but that Lovecraft is so up my street that I’m sure I’d be able to shoe-horn them in somewhere. You can check out the Weird Science project here if you’re tempted and wish to see more.
Also, it’ll be worth stopping here to see more of the lovely ranges available at Bears Head Miniatures.

P.S. I see it’s already funded – Congratulations Bear Head Miniatures!
