Hey all! So we’re back from Salute and fully recuperated! It’s surprising how tiring just wandering around taking pictures and speaking to people is! Some of you may have read my ‘shopping list’ article and I’m here to reflect upon it and let you know how I got on in general.Well, I think it’s safe to say that I went completely off-piste. In actual fact I didn’t buy anything that I wrote about at all! Not because I didn’t like what I saw but principally because I was trying to be restrained. I did pick up some lovely Perry figures and some 4Ground buildings for the American Revolution period and some tokens and measuring sticks for Test of Honour from Art of War Studios which look great.
The rest of the day was spent just speaking to people and checking out games. Highlights for me were meeting Alex from Warploque whose sculpting skill and characterful models keep me interested in the gorgeous and funny ArcWorlde. Lovely bloke who I’m happy to say I supported in their recent kickstarter. More to come when that all arrives I’m sure! Another were meeting Lon from Mana Press and talking through the upcoming Mad Maximillian a dynamic looking game with cobbled together racing machines weight down with guns set in a post-apocalyptic 1930s Australia. Finally having a go at the exciting and very clever Legends of the Fabled Realms from 4Ground which is great. Really good movement mechanics that capture the feeling the battle is flowing as opposed to static plus customisable heroes, magic, powerful abilities, loads and loads of dice and a legacy mode all come together to make this something I’ll certainly back on Kickstarter in the summer!
All that’s left is to show you all the pics I took and say that I hope to see you at a show soon! Oh wait, one more thing. I fist bumped a Space Marine, oh yeah! – Mark
